Dayak Tribes Cultures

    Dayak is one of the thousands of tribes that exist in Indonesia. Dayak is known as one of the native tribes in Borneo. They are one of the majority population in the headwaters by the local. The Dayak community lived most in the surrounding watershed interior of Borneo.
    Dayak of West Kalimantan has been inhabited since thousands years ago and consists of 350 sub-tribes. Dayak is now estimated migrations from Yunnan (Eastern Chinese) is a major migration around 3500-3000 BC and arrived in the archipelago, including in West Kalimantan.
    Gawai Dayak, is one of the Dayak festival. It starts on the evening of 31 May. The celebration may last for several days, but the next on 1 June the homes of Dayak opened to the public, the festival held both a religious and social occasion, the Dayak would visit their friends and relatives on this day.
    Tari Gantar, Tari Hudoq Aban, Tari Belian, Bowo, Tari Ngelawai are some of Dayak tribes dance in Kalimantan that you can find or you can learn. Such as Tari Gantar describes about gladness and joy in plant paddies / rice, Tari Hudoq Aban describes to chase away the crop pets and bat / evil spirit which annoying, Tari Belian Bowo is one of the cultures of Dayak Tonyoil and Dayak Benuaq tribes to cure ill people and Tari Ngelawai usually brought as a welcome dance.
